L’annonce de la nouvelle grille des frais académiques pour l’année 2025-2026 à l’Université Catholique du Congo (UCC) a provoqué une onde de choc. Passer de 1.200 $ à 1.700 $ en une seule année académique, soit une hausse brutale de 500 $, apparaît non seulement comme une décision injuste, mais aussi comme une véritable gifle pour les familles congolaises déjà étranglées par la crise économique.
Le plus choquant reste l’opacité totale qui entoure cette mesure. Aucune explication claire n’a été fournie par les responsables, parmi lesquels figurent des évêques membres du Conseil d’Administration. Ces derniers, censés incarner l’esprit d’humanité et de sacrifice, semblent plutôt céder à une logique purement financière, au mépris des valeurs chrétiennes qu’ils prêchent au quotidien.
Une contradiction criante avec l’Évangile. Comment comprendre que ceux qui se disent serviteurs de Dieu, porteurs d’un message de compassion et de justice sociale, imposent un fardeau aussi insupportable à de simples étudiants et à leurs parents ?
Comment accepter que l’éducation, qui devrait être un ministère de lumière et d’élévation, devienne un commerce lucratif, réservé à une élite financière ?
Le contraste est saisissant : dans un pays où la majorité de la population vit avec moins de 2 dollars par jour, les « bergers » censés guider le troupeau vers la dignité, semblent désormais préoccupés par l’accumulation de revenus plutôt que par le salut des âmes et l’avenir des jeunes.
L’indignation grandit. De nombreux parents et étudiants dénoncent ce qu’ils qualifient de mauvaise foi et d’abus d’autorité spirituelle. Pour eux, cette décision décourageante révèle une dérive dangereuse : l’éducation catholique, jadis symbole de discipline et d’excellence accessible, se transforme en un instrument d’exclusion sociale.
Un appel pressant à la conscience. Il est urgent que les responsables ecclésiastiques revoient cette politique tarifaire. Car, en persistant dans cette voie, ils ne feront pas que vider les salles de classe : ils risquent surtout de briser la confiance que des générations entières plaçaient dans l’Église comme garante de justice et d’équité.
L’UCC ne doit pas devenir le symbole d’une Église déconnectée de la souffrance du peuple, mais plutôt rester fidèle à sa mission : rendre l’éducation accessible, former des citoyens responsables et défendre la dignité humaine.
